Couldnt get to site any earlier today and desperate to try to get the first official WeBS count done after missing out last visit due to the fog....none of that today....breezy but warm with sun......

The last of the Nightingales perhaps....they were very intermittent today...possibly because I was late....possibly it was the windy sometimes overcast weather....ah well....the quiet of June and July to come....though I guess there will still be plenty to see and do over that time....
Blackbird, Chaffinch, Linnet, Blue Tit, Reed Bunting, Jay, Robin, Wren, Song Thrush, Magpie, Woodpigeon, Dunnock, Great Tit, Green Woodpecker, Feral Pigeon, Stock Dove, Crow, Skylark, Reed Warbler, Swift, Buzzard, House Martin, Bullfinch, Long Tail Tit, Yellowhammer, Sedge Warbler, Kestrel, Hobby, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Turtle Dove, Collared Dove, Swallow.
June and July will be insect time Graham :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Graham, thanks for this blog. I live in Tunbridge Wells and have become fascinated by nightingales in the past few years. I didn't realise there were nightingales so close to this area. From other searches they all seemed to be located in North and East Kent (have been and heard there!) I know it's getting a little late perhaps to hear them now, but I'll visit the Gravel Pits with my partner (who is more knowledgeable about birds than me!) to see what else we can see. All the best Victoria
